As a spiritual community we seek to follow the teachings of Jesus, who calls us to love one another, to reach out to those who are in need, and to grow deeper in our journey with God. Here at Trinity, seekers, pilgrims, saints and sinners explore faith and doubt, justice and Jesus, peace and praise, as we journey together in the familiar and mysterious.
This will be a Sunday filled with African music and culture. We welcome Lasana, a drummer originally from Liberia, who will sing and drum for us. Lasana will also share about the struggles he has faced as a blind person in Africa. We also welcome Rev. Jim Monroe who will be leading a United Methodist mission trip to Kenya this Summer. He will share his past experiences in Kenya. A Kenya style stew will be served during fellowship time after worship.
Rev. Courtney McHill is a United Methodist Pastor serving the Sunnyside Redevelopment Project in Portland, OR. Rev. Courtney has a long history of advocating and standing up for people who need a voice. She is particularly passionate about issues concerning people who identify as LGBTQ and people who struggle with housing. Rev. Courtney was one of the original signers of the "Called out" letter to church leadership signed by openly LGBTQ clergy calling for the church to become more inclusive. (Our Pastor was also a signer) We look forward to Rev. McHill sharing her bold ideas with us!
